The Dairy Business

Grandpa Earl carried on the family dairy business after his father’s passing in 1945. In 1957, Earl and his wife Rowena moved the family and the dairy to Plantersville, Texas. Grandpa Earl embraced innovation at Fuchs dairy by being one of the first in Texas to use Mechanized Milk Harvesting.

Houston livestock show and rodeo

Earl became involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and helped to organize the very first dairy calf scramble in 1946. He volunteered and chaired many committees throughout his 29 years of service to the show.

later years

Grandpa Earl spent his retirement traveling the world, seeing all the U.S. states and 11 countries with the love of his life, Rowena, whom the family sadly lost in 2013 after they celebrated 75 years of marriage. Earl continued to live in his family home, cared for by his family, playing his computer poker game, puzzles and word finds and enjoying his daily desserts until his 100th birthday. Earl also had the blessing of enjoying time with a two-year-old great-great grandson, Wyatt Robert Fuchs.
