About Us

A lifetime of love and friendships mixed with a legacy of land and hard work brings the promise of lively, fun endeavors for this beloved community in Plantersville and beyond.

Our Grandpa, Earl Fuchs and his wife Rowena moved their dairy farm from West Little York road in Houston Texas. After the state built a road through the middle of their property, Grandpa was forced to drive his cattle across the road, twice a day for milking. That proved to be a difficult task and the family decided it was time to find a new home.

They traveled north until they landed in Plantersville, Texas in 1956. Over the next year, they moved their home, the barns, the people and the animals to the new, beautiful, 1196 acre land. At age 38, Grandpa and his clan converted the untamed land into a beautiful operating dairy. They reconstructed the state-of-the-art milking barn that had achieved them accommodation in the dairyman's magazine.

They raised their two children Bobby and Joyce on the dairy.

When Grandpa was ready to retire, Bobby and his wife Betty took over and ran the dairy. Joyce and her husband Woody also moved to the property and helped Grandpa with the enormous task of caring for the place. Their children, Robert, Lynne and Keith grew up working, hunting, fishing and developing a love for the land.

During those years, Bobby's son Robert, attended school in Navasota, and became best and lifelong friends with Dean Dickschat. The two boys caused havoc in the town of Navasota and enjoyed their school days. They went to college together, pledged the same fraternity, played in a band together, stood for each other when they married amazing women, Ginna and Joy, and shared family vacations and good times.

The family's 4th generation then began a love affair with the land as well. Hollie, Sam, Jordan, Aaron, Ryan, Brock and Brooke all shared wonderful family memories on the property. Hunting, fishing, and camping were among the fun family memories spent there.

In the meantime, Dean and his family purchased acerage and moved to Anna, Texas. They built a home and a barn and eventually decided to plant some grapes. 2500 grapevines! Dean decided to make wine and get on the wine tour. That led to visitors and the Dickschats decided to start playing music for them. It was the birth of Barnhill Vineyards!

Today the venue is host to around 500 guests on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year. A combination of amazing music and spectacular Texas wines has been the basis for Barnhill Vineyards for several years now.

The two lifelong friends, along with the cousin Keith have decided to embark on an endeavor to create a similar vibe on the old dairy in Plantersville, TX. Robert, Keith, Dean and the rest of the families want to pay tribute to the legacy of the land and the love and hard work by creating DeepRoots Vineyards! A vineyard/winery and live event center. A place for the community to relax and enjoy an evening out. A place to experience the love of family and friendships. A place to remember the legacy of a man who loved his family, worked hard and lived large!
